Hi all! I was wondering if any of you happen to have an 80's style prom dress just hanging around in your closets. My daughter Rebekah is looking for one for a Halloween party she's going to tomorrow and she's not having any luck finding one. If you have anything you'd be willing to loan, give me a call!

Got great video?

Please share it with the activity committee for the our Cobblestone's Funniest Video party on October 10th at 6:30pm.

All entries must be in to Kit Gardener by Oct. 4th in any format, we will adjust them to our format. Anything will be great, even if its only funny to you! We will still laugh anyway!

What a great idea it would be over the next couple of weeks, to take out those old video movies and watch them as a family. We did it and our kids loved it, Colton told someone you have to see me as a baby I was sooooo chubby! Well needless to say we don't have any to submit but it was a very entertaining time seeing if we did.

Kids love to see themselves on TV!

Stretching Tomato Growing Season

When the first frost comes, if you still have tomatoes coming along, here's a very easy way to save them. No need to wrap each one in newspaper (which I did for a few years before anelderly neighbor told me what I'm about to tell you). If you have a dry basement or other unused space that will not freeze, simply pull up the tomato plants roots and all, shakeoff the dirt and hang them upside down so that none of the leaves touch the floor. The tomatoes continue to ripen very slowly, they do not rot, and you can easily see which ones are ripest without having to unwrap a bunch of newspaper.

Lets share our garden crops?

Well my favorite vegetable is zucchini but over the years I plant to many of them and have so many I am begging people to take them, dropping them off anonymously, you know! So I got smart and only planted one this year and it must have been a bad one because it has barely grown 2 inches in 2 months, needless to say NO zucchini for me. If anyone has the abundance of zuchinni that they would like to share, come my way. Thanks and I will do the same as my cucumbers and tomatoes are growing faster than I can eat them.

I have lots of mint and flat parsely now if anyone needs that!

Babysitter Job

When school starts again in September, I am looking for a babysitter to come to my home from 9 am-1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to watch my girls. I work from home and would be home during those hours, but working in my office. My younger daughter has special needs and at times has moments of fussiness, but is mostly calm in the morning, and she does not require special care yet as she is so small. If anyone knows a college aged student or someone who is looking for a part time job in the morning, please feel free to have them get in touch with me, shannan_hoffman@yahoo.com, 435-657-9977.

Prayers needed

As most of you know, Krista Baker's son Mitchell is undergoing some heart surgery...again. He was in hospital today for an attempt to unblock a valve, but it was unsuccessful due to the amount of scar tissue. He will, therefore, have to go back in about 3 weeks to test for having his valve replaced. As you can imagine, this is a lot for a young boy and his family to endure, especially given their other health issues. Please keep Mitchell, Krista and Corey, and the rest of the family in your prayers, on temple prayer rolls, etc. Thanks.

Also we have 10 willing families to participate in our cobbler cook off but I am afraid that won't be enough to even feed me...just kidding all the guests we are anticipating. Neighborhood Watch

Two young men went through the neighborhood yesterday, June 3rd trying to get donations for their soccer team to go to Spain. Be aware they are not legit. They got our last name (from my friendly daughter and husband) and used our name to drop to other neighbors that we "gave generously". Be careful, I wouldn't open your door to these young men.
One identifying mark was one was missing a front tooth. They went to Mair's house on 1200 S. 2 times and were really aggressive with asking for a drink and to use their phone. Sis Mair is making a report to the sheriff's office.

Vandalism in Cobblestone neighborhood

Last night (June 2) at about 10:00pm, we heard glass break and then we got ding dong ditched. Bob and I went outside immediately, and kids scattered. There was a HUGE group of teenagers running around the commons area and the easement and cul-d-sac to Fieldstone. We didn't realize until today that one of our garage door windows was shot and broken with some sort of BB! It must have been a sligshot, the BB's were too big for a gun, but not sure?? Looking for any leads to where I could at least say, "not very nice" or something equally profound. Anoymous tip line available just leave a message on front step and ring the doorbell and run!

Lost Scooter

Hi everyone!

Last Sunday at church, Seth's red, razor scooter disappeared. I am hopeful that it was just an oversight with someone not realizing the scooter wasn't theirs. So, if anyone has seen an "extra" scooter in their garage, please contact me and we will come identify as ours or not. A few identifying marks, red, razor, both foam handle pads have been removed. Also, we are missing his "hat and helmet." It is a GAP brand camoflauge hat and a black helmet. We are assuming he has left it in someone's yard. Thanks so much!

Missionary Mom's

Cobblestone Ward missionary moms! There is a great website for all the "old" and "new" missionary moms! It's missionsite.net and it's FREE! I set up a site for Andy not long after he left. It's a great way to have family and friends keep up on letters and pictures. Andy's site is http://www.missionsite.net/elderharrington/main - Also it will link you to other missionaries in your son or daughter's mission.

Sending a missionary out is a daunting task. The paperwork, shopping, packing is hard enough - but add the emotional part and it is overwhelming at times. There is an email support group it's http://www.ldsmissionarymoms.com/subscribe/ - This site will place you in an email group with other mm's in your child's mission.

Granted, not everyone needs the support, like I did!! I was surprised at my initial sadness when we took Andy to the airport, so I started to reach out for understanding. My personal experience was faith promoting and I found myself digging a little deeper into my testimony. My prayers were more meaningful and the has Lord blessed me beyond my own expectations.

Let's all do lunch!! Meet at the park - or at Arbys on Wednesdays? :)

Great Prices on Bulk Wheat

If you are interested in ordering wheat, my sister just told me about a great deal! Her friend is placing an order for 45 lb. wheat buckets (white or red) for 16.50 each. That is much less then Costco, Walmart, Lehi Roller Mills, and other places I have bought from before. I've been out of town and just found out tonight, so I will need to know tomorrow- Monday, May 18th, if you would like to order. I don't need the money, just let me know if you would like to purchase some. If you have any questions, just email me. Thanks!! Jill ** Wheat isn't something that we've talked about yet, and if you have a limited budget you should really focus on getting your 3 month supply of the food's your family regularly eats first. But this is a great price and great opportunity and convenient way for you to store up on wheat. It is an essential thing to store. Remember- wheat is just flour! You grind wheat into flour, whole wheat flour ofcourse, but it is flour nonetheless, which you need a lot of. Wheat is cheap, easy to store, sustains life, provides your body with many vitamins to sustain life, and has a long shelf life- you don't even need to worry about it right now- just get it first!! **

Jill Lawson

You are supposed to have 300 lbs. of grains per person for a whole years supply. I know- that sounds like a ton!! So for a family of 5 you would need 1500 lbs. of grains. But that isn't all supposed to be just wheat. I've copied a chart I found on another website that has an example of how you might want to diversify that 300 lbs. of grains to have a better variety. You can do what is shown there, or change it depending on what your family likes to eat. Based on this chart it has 100 lbs. of wheat per person per year, so that would be about 2 buckets per person. So for your whole family- 10 buckets. (ofcourse your kids are little and definitely don't count as an adult- these numbers are for adults, so children would need much less. But I just like to count my kids as adults because they grow so quickly and I don't want to have to worry about it in 5 or 10 years that they will need more, but I am kind of on the crazy side and like to have lots of food stored!) So I would reccomend getting whatever you can afford right now. I really don't think you could have too much of it, and it lasts for so long that you don't even have to worry about rotating it right now. I have both the hard red wheat and the hard white wheat. I'm not sure if you're familiar with either, but I like using the hard white wheat for making bread. I've heard people like the taste of the red wheat if they are actually eating the wheat- like for cracked wheat cereal. Hopefully this helps and isn't way overwhelming! Let me know if you have any other questions or would like to order some. Welcome Welcome

I hope that you all find this to be a fun blog and use it for your benefit. I would be happy to put any of your personal blogs on this blog to share. Also if you have a great website you like and think others would as well, then send me the link and I will put it on.

I have posted a few of my favorite blogs and websites I use daily. If you have any questions, feel free to post them as well. This blog is only useful if we participate.

My first post is that every Wednesday for the entire summer, Arby's Restaurant offers a FREE, yes FREE menu item with purchase. Each week its something different. This Wednesday, our family went out to dinner for $7.00 and we each had a drink too! Its was a great dinner and I didn't have to cook a thing or even clean up!
